Service Improvement and QIPP
The NHS Elect team has supported members to review quality and productivity in many areas and support teams to deliver innovation, including use of lean techniques; implementation of Enhanced Recovery; implementation of the NHSI ‘Productive’ Series; local rapid improvement events and; reviews of specific services, often benchmarked against the same services in other Trusts in the NHS Elect network.
We can support delivery of local projects in all of these areas and also work with local teams to ensure they have the skills to carry out this work themselves.
Examples of work we have carried out include:
- Review and implementation of Enhanced Recovery in elective surgical pathways
- Development and delivery of new acute care models to reduce A&E waiting times and emergency length of stay
- Rapid Improvement programme to improve fractured neck of femur pathway
- Review of a Trust’s Endoscopy Service
- Review of the Administrative and Clerical support in a DGH, leading to significant reductions in spend
- Use of the British Association of Day Surgery dataset to understand opportunities to delivery increased day case activity and productivity
