We work by delivering tailored projects, management development and giving members access to specialist knowledge.

Caroline Dove, CEO NHS Elect

On-site Training and Development Programmes

NHS Elect has always delivered management development programmes for our members but in the current economic climate we have seen an increase in demand for these programmes as a cost-effective way of providing development.

Our programmes are designed to be interactive with an emphasis on providing real practical support based on our extensive experience of the NHS.  We deliver these programmes using our own core team and our network of highly successful associates according to the particular expertise required. We work with our members in the three following ways:

  1. Diagnostic of development needs which may include semi-structured interviews with both managers and those they report to
  2. Development of a programme to support the individual and organisational need
  3. Delivery of  a bespoke programme

Typically the programme will be delivered on-site over a period of several months but the exact delivery schedule will always be agreed with the member to meet their needs. Some examples of the content of our programmes include:

  • Leading Service redesign and service improvement
  • Motivating and developing staff
  • Understanding the human dimensions of change
  • Negotiation, relationship management and conflict resolution
  • Improving personal effectiveness
  • Marketing and customer care
  • Fundamentals of NHS Finance and contracting
  • Business cases and business planning
  • Productivity, Lean and fundamentals of cost saving
  • Emerging policy and legal briefing
