Meet the Team
NHS Elect consists of a small team of senior managers, all with recent senior operational management experience in the NHS. Short biographies below give a flavour of the range of experience and expertise that they bring to NHS Elect.
| Biography: | I have worked in the NHS for the whole of my career, working largely in secondary care in both operational and strategic management, most recently as an Executive Director at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | From an initial membership of four sites, the NHS Elect team has expanded and developed the network to a membership of over 50 sites in 2011, providing a diverse range of support to colleagues across the NHS. |
| Interests: | Outside of work I try to spend as much time as possible at home by the seaside with my husband and our two small boys and dog. I also enjoy reading, pottering around flea-markets and a little light shopping. |
| How I can help you: | I work extensively with members on service improvement, the development of clinical services strategies and training and development, in particular around human dimensions of change. |

| Biography: | Coming from a background as a Chartered Physiotherapist and having been the first non-medical Clinical Director at UCLH, I made the transition to General Management looking after trauma and orthopaedic services. I moved to be General Manager for Surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and then Project Director for Patient Choice at NWL Strategic Health Authority. I joined NHS Elect in 2004 and now enjoy the challenges of working alongside member organisations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, and the implementation of new models of healthcare provision and commissioning. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | Project Lead for a the development of a competence based framework for assessment of advanced practitioners working in the field of hip and knee arthroplasty. |
| Interests: | My interests outside work include Pilates and cycling on the healthy end and enjoying good food and wine in far off places, less healthily. |
| How I can help you: | I work extensively with members on service improvement, the implementation of policy into practice and on a 1:1 basis with Coaching. |

| Biography: | The core skills which I currently use are organisational development, learning and development, service redesign, strategy development, facilitation of large and small groups, healthcare procurement, negotiation, business case development and merger & acquisition support across acute, community and primary care sectors in the NHS. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | Current projects include improving tender response capacity for a number of hospitals, service redesign for a vertically integrated healthcare provider, development of a staff engagement strategy and establishing directorate business planning processes. |
| Interests: | Time not spent at work or with my two small children is devoted to the arts, cooking and a long-standing but ambivalent commitment to Manchester United. |

| Biography: | I am an economics graduate currently working as a Director at NHS Elect, I have had extensive management consultancy experience, both employed and self employed, working as a Director of Commissioning within PCTs and Director of Strategy within Acute Trusts. I also have over 6 years operational experience with the NHS at a major London teaching hospital, and have spent time on secondment at the DH. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | Worked with several organisations to prepare successful tender responses, redisgned reporting for commissioners to fit GP Commissioning requirements, run numerous sessions on clinical procurement practice and negotiation with providers. |
| Interests: | I am interested in the legal and policy environment and how to apply this to individual organisations. |
| How I can help you: | I can help you to develop successful tender bid documents, merger plans, clinical service due diligence frameworks, post merger integration plans, organisational responses to changing market conditions and KPIs and balanced scorecards. |

| Biography: | I joined the NHS in 1990 in Sheffield before moving to London and developing my operational management career at UCLH and the Royal Free Hospital. I left the NHS to deliver interim management and consultancy services to the NHS from 2004. As an interim I worked extensively across the NHS including commissioning at a PCT level, provider development at SHAs and further operational roles. |

| Interests: | In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre, cooking and watching Arsenal football club. I am also a keen motorcyclist and I ride both on the road, occasionally on tracks and I also ride regularly off-road both in the UK and abroad. |
| How I can help you: | I work with members on commissioning, service redesign and the implications of the Health Bill. An experienced facilitator, I also lead NHS Elect’s work with clinical teams on reviewing and improving local care pathways. |

| Biography: | I joined NHS Elect in April 2005 as their Director, leading on the marketing of NHS Services. Prior to joining NHS Elect, I was Executive Director for Strategy and Planning at North West London Strategic Health Authority. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | I have piloted an ‘Enhancing Customer Experience’ Study Programme with Intercontinental London Park Lane for its members I have delivered customer care training to over 150 NHS front line administration, booking, reception and clinical staff. |

| Biography: | I have had a succesful career at the cutting edge of the IT and Business outsourcing industries across Europe and the US before joining the NHS in 2006. My achievements took me to the position of Managing Director of a multi national Internet Service provider. I specialised in commercial account management and major programme management. |

| Biography: | I have been working in the NHS since 1993 within the community, acute and PCT sectors. |

| Biography: | I started at NHS Elect in December 2005 on a 5 week contract and either as a penance or a stroke of good luck (depends on what kind of day I am having) I have been here ever since. My background is in HR and I was an HR Manager for a Music Company for many years. After the company was bought out I started my own recruitment company which I still run in conjuction with my work for NHS Elect. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | Managing the team diaries, and, so far I haven’t managed to send one of the team to Narnia for a membership visit, but I wouldn’t rule it out in the future. |
| Interests: | I play squash on a regular basis and am into yoga, pilates and athletics (wasn’t one of the lucky ones who got tickets for 2012 though) and anything arty, music,art,theatre etc. I am also a member of amateur dramatics groups though I am resting now |

| Biography: | I have been co-ordinating events for NHS Elect for over two years now, having returned to work part-time after starting a family. Prior to this, I worked for 15 years in Public Relations in the private sector, both in-house and in PR consultancies, latterly as the PR Director for a large French cosmetics company. Large and small-scale event organising formed part of my previous roles. |

| Recent Accomplishments: | We are working hard to increase the number of delegates attending our network-wide sessions across all our member organisations. We are also keen to ensure we keep offering our most popular events, adapting and updating where necessary. |
| Interests: | Aside from seemingly endless ferrying to and from children’s activities, I enjoy yoga, art, reading and working my way through box sets (currently The Sopranos). |
