Clinical Strategy Design
NHS Elect works extensively with members on developing clinical strategies, both as part of the Foundation Trust application process and as part of the Trust’s wider strategic planning.
We have facilitated discussions and workshops in many organisations to create a shared strategic vision (particularly with clinical staff) and have drafted service strategies for members based on these discussions and the Board’s views.
This has included developing clinical services strategies for acute Trusts integrating with community service providers and with other acute providers where we have worked with Boards and clinical teams in planning new service strategies that drive benefit from integration. It also includes work on creating sustainable service models for smaller providers. This looks at issues around workforce (including medical workforce and on-call) and safe service models.
We have also helped many members to implement agreed clinical strategies, particularly in establishing elective care centres and in redesigning their acute admissions processes to reduce admissions and minimise length of stay.
